What comes after your professional San Diego grout cleaning service?

Throughout the history of our grout and tile care and repair blog, we have provided a lot of information about our San Diego grout cleaning service.  If you have read one of our blogs, you likely understand our service process.  You probably know that we provide no-obligation San Diego grout cleaning consultations.  You might have read in-depth information about our tile and grout cleaning procedures and understand the reasons we recommend steam for properly cleaning your tiled surfaces.  Perhaps you know that we utilize a deep-penetrating grout sealer after our professional grout cleaning service, which is formulated to protect your grout between cleanings.  But healthy grout and tile do not end once our trained technicians complete your project.

San Diego Grout Cleaning Aftercare

After your professional grout cleaning servcie by The Grout Medic of San Diego Metro, the ball will be in your court.  You will be starting with a clean slate, and these steps will help keep your tiled surface in great shape until we perform your next service.

Clean your tile and grout regularly.

This might seem obvious, but The Grout Medic would like to expound upon the subjective terminology in this statement.  What does “regularly” mean?  It is different for every home or business, and even for different areas of your home or business.  It is obvious that a seldom used guest shower will not require a weekly cleaning.  Those areas can be cared for after each infrequent use.  For other areas…

  1. We recommend wiping your shower down each day with a dry cloth. This will eliminate some of the water that usually is left to evaporate from the surface of your grout and tile.  This two or three-minute procedure will help allay build-up of mildew on the surface of your shower and help keep your grout sealer intact.
  2. Clean your shower once or twice weekly with a pH-balanced cleaning solution and a damp cloth. Both the daily drying routine and the grout sealer will make your cleaning routine quicker and easier – no scrubbing, no harsh chemicals required.
  3. Sweep or vacuum your floor tiles once or twice weekly to keep dirt particles from scratching your tile or being forced into the surface of your grout. High-traffic floors or homes with pets might require a daily sweeping ritual.
  4. Sanitize your tiled floor once or twice weekly with a steam mop or clean with a damp sponge mop and pH-balanced cleaner. We do not recommend dousing your floors with a water and cleaning solution mixture, as with traditional mopping.  The same rule applies as the sweeping recommendation above.  Busy homes and businesses might require more frequent gentle cleanings.

When to Schedule Your San Diego Grout Cleaning

This too, is subjective, and will be based on each client’s needs.  If you have more than two people sharing a shower in your home, you might find that staining and build-up occur within six months or a year.  You might experience the same for high-traffic floors.  If you have tiled countertops in a busy kitchen, six months might be the maximum amount of time you get between professional grout and tile cleaning appointments.  The key for each home or business, is to note when your grout begins to stain, and no longer cleans easily.  That is when it’s time to call The Grout Medic of San Diego Metro to schedule your consultation and service.
